Best American Restaurant in Ferndale

Barrel House is hands-down one of my favorite spots in Ferndale. It’s the perfect mix of a cozy neighborhood bar and an elevated American eatery. They have an incredible whiskey selection and consistently delicious food. My regular go-tos are the chicken noodle soup (it tastes like home), the short rib sandwich—tender, flavorful, and perfectly paired with fries and au jus—and the coney dog egg rolls, which are just plain fun and tasty. Tonight’s special was meatloaf with mushroom sauce over mashed potatoes and a side of roasted carrots, and it was so good—comfort food done right. The staff is always friendly, attentive, and make you feel like a regular every time you walk in. Barrel House is one of those spots you can count on for a great meal, great drinks, and good vibes. Can’t wait to come back!

Great happy hour! Ample wine pours. The French Onion Breadstixs with French Onion Soup Dip were really good. The Walleye breaded in salt & Vinegar Chips was excellent as were the shoestring fries. Also enjoyed the Jerk Chicken Tenderloins with Pineapple stir fried rice. We will definitely be back to try the Short Rib Sandwich.

We stopped by for an early Saturday dinner. I can’t put into words how good everything we tried was. It’s been a long time since we’ve tasted dishes with this great of flavor while out to eat, let alone in a relaxed atmosphere. The service was great too. We found our new favorite place to dine in the area.

We visited the barrel house on Friday while barhopping in fashionable Ferndale and had a great time. It was karaoke night and the staff was super friendly and attentive. It was a good night listening to good singers and drinking more than we should've. We will definitely be back again.
